Do you know if it's always on the right side or have you heard of cases of

left-sided weakness? Our doc just mentioned problems on one side of the body.

The doc said it is one of the more common viral die-off signs he sees. I

really don't think it is yeast since the only thing he's taking that could

affect yeast is the Lauricidin and he's been on that for several months.

Also, I don't think he has high yeast. We recently ran the full titer yeast

test and it was negative, he very very rarely eats anything that would feed

yeast and hasn't responded to any anti-yeast meds for a few years.

No, just to remain on course and if the die-off lasted more than 21 days,

he'd consider changing meds. Curt hasn't had any die-off stuff since last

week (which would have been day 19 or 20) and seems to be doing well. So far

no earth shattering progress but a small, but obvious, improvement in writing

and fine motor, is calmer and we're getting through his workload much quicker

so I guess he's more focused. All this is pretty subtle though, except the

calmness. That's a real biggie for him since he's usually very hyper.

Usually, when he doesn't take his calcium, he'd be very wiggly and hard to

settle. We took the calcium out two weeks ago (doc thought the aspartate in

it might have a negative effect on the antiviral treatment) and he appears to

not need it to remain calm anymore. We'll be testing for calcium levels with

the reg doc soon to ensure he's ok without it but it is amazing that he's not

bouncing off the walls or having trouble getting to sleep without it like he

did before. Sign of antiviral working, I hope.

Sounds like maybe an allergy to the supplement?

Gaylen,

Regarding the weakness to one-side of the body. What I have read is

that herpes viruses like the temporal lobes, which can lead to a

weakness on one side of the body. With our kids I would imagine it

would be the right side because the left temporal lobe is

responsible for most of langauge. Which is also a good indication

that if there is right-sided weakness and poor langauge that not

only would the weakness improve from an antiviral but langauge

should as well. Of course this is my theory but I have witness

improved langauge processing with an improvement in Jack's gait.

I am new to this board with a question:

My 3-year old son has been on Acyclovir for the past 2 weeks.(had

positive antibodies to herpes virus I). We are not pts of Dr G's but

I decided to try antivirals anyway because had a very sudden

and fast regression (though he was never 100% normal " ).Since we

increased the Acyclovir dose he is incredibly spaced out,

disconnected, moody, stimmy, perseverative, echolalic etc- you get

the picture. Ironically his language skills seem a little better but

overall a lot more autistic- like behaviors.

I would be thankful for anybody sharing their experiences with

antiviral die-off- is it common, is it a good prognostic factor and

how long does it last?

Thank you

Even though my son has never taken Acyclovir, he did experience die

off with Valtex and Famvir. In both of these cases, his " symptoms "

included spaciness, irritability, spinning, shaking his head, trouble

coming up with words. At his worst, it lasted only 3-5 days, but

these symptoms came and went for 3 weeks.

Dana and others,

I have been giving Virastop beginning in early fall. As soon as I

increased the dose to 2/day, a rash appeared on trunk which is a

combination of small pimples and red unraised rash. This has only

settled down to a few spots recently so I am planning to increase

dosage again. Any thoughts on how long this excretion lasts and how

high the dose should be for optimum benefit(120#)? Any experience

using this with low dose naltrexone-would that facilitate

excretion? - theoretically I would think so....thanks, B.

Well, I used OLE the first time I did anti-virals. After 10 months of

OLE, my son developed a rash which took about a month to go away.

This time, I am using OLE and ViraStop, plus vitamin C, colostrum, and

occasionally astralagus root. I give 3-6 ViraStop capsules, plus

3000mg OLE, per day, plus maybe 10 grams of vitamin C. My son has had

the rash for about 2 months now, and it is not showing signs of

reducing any time soon. His language and social interest are really

going thru the roof tho!

Some people I know are using just ViraStop, as much as 15-20 capsules

per day.

I have read that LDN helps the immune system, so I would guess that it

would probably help. 1-2 capsules of ViraStop does not seem like

much, so if you are seeing benefits, it might be from the combination.
