Hi (and others with gassy abdominal problems)!

I've been have some really severe GI distress on and off the past few months. I'm finally going to see a GI doctor--add another specialist to my long list.

In the meantime, activated charcoal capsules or encapsulated peppermint oil have helped to alleviate some discomfort. Please do not take peppermint oil straight!! First of all, you'll burn out your upper GI tract, secondly, you need the capsule to carry the oil down to where the relief is needed.

Hope this helps some.

Good luck and good health,

Celeste

Dear

Don't let the internist get you down. Been there, done that myself. I

find there are so many doctors wanting to dismiss the AP, then when it

works, rather than acknowledging that, they decide you weren't sick in

the first place. Getting through to them is like knocking your head

against the wall and God knows, none of us needs more pain so why do

it? I've truly come to believe that if a doctor won't support how you

want to take care of your own body, then you should run fast, run far

away from him. You've said yourself how much the doctor's attitude

upsets you, even when you know you're right so why put up with it?

" Respected " in the medical profession doesn't always mean good, I

prefer to find a doctor who's considered supportive and compassionate.

You have that with Dr. Sinnott, why not give his office a call to see if

they can help you with your problems? Sorry you're having a rough time,

I can totally relate so I hope you start feeling better soon.

Hugs

a Peden

Group, I used to have quite a lot of GI distress (gas that would go nowhere). I finally got relief by using digestive enzymes and aloe vera gel and by placing a magnetic pad directly on the stomach or lower abdomen. When using the magnetic pad it usually only took 15 to 30 minutes for complete relief. It was a God send when I was in the hospital as I was unable to take the enzymes or aloe while there. I've recently tried aloe vera juice, and it helps. I also use psyllium to

counter-act diarrhea. These 2 together have gotten cramping and diarrhea

much more nearly under control, but I'm still having some more gas than I

would like.

What digestive enzymes do you recommend?

Also, I use heat on my abdomen for cramping. Helps a lot.

sorry you are not feeling well. with all the emotions over a wedding i can

understand. i am also having problems. i've taken 2 rounds of anti-biotics. i

called the dr's office on monday and explained all my problems and on many

drugs. mentioned that i thought it may be yeast. they told me to buy stuff over

the

counter. day 4 of this and no better. i am going to their walk in clininc

today. i have an appt last week, but want to be sure i am doing what i should. i

told my mom if i were to die from some wirerd bladder, kidney, pelvic area, to

go after this dr's office. (not that i am going to die from this, but they

should have brought me in to an appt. now i will force them to see me. thinking

of doing my injection early tomorrow since i do not plan on doing anything. i

was invited to a family party on saturday, and another next week. saturdays i

am usually at home and quiet from the mtx.so maybe if i inject earlier on

friday, i'll feel better sooner. (that's my hope anyway. well better get to the

shower so i can get in to the clininc between 7-8:30 am. bet it will be crowded

today with the holiday weekend. hope you all have a fun, safe and painfree

holiday weekend. remember, even though i've been quiet. i still think of you all

each and every day. my best to you and yours. kathy in il

Tess,

So sorry you're feeling so bad. Hope old Arthur packs his bags and

leaves you alone.

You must be getting really anxious to get your surgery done and get

relief from all of these problems.

Did you tell your doctor about your sugar fluctuation? It could be why

you're feeling so blue.

The wedding probably contributes to your sadness since it may stir up

memories of your own

wedding and how much you miss Vince. Those emotional roller coasters

are tough.

I'm really proud of your efforts to change your eating habits. It's

not an easy thing to do

especially when food brings so much comfort. Enjoy your bbq.

Hi Kim,

This has happened to me a couple of times. I self inject MTX

once a week and have been on it since June. The first time this

happened I thought it was a bad vial or something. The second time

happened last month and I spoke to my doctor who told me I was

probably just sick and should have gone to my primary care doc. I

don't buy that theory to well as its seems way too coincidental to

taking the drug. I too ran a fever and had the chills for a number

of hours, then the following day was fine. Don't know if that helps

you any, but it surprised me to see someone wrote the same kind of

experience I just had. Good luck and best wishes for good health!
