Yeah, it's not that bad if your child's immunity isn't compromised. Calamine Lotion is great and keep the scabs moist after they burst. It shouldn't last too long, the spots just come out for a few days, it's the residual colouring that seems to take longer. There's not much you can do to prevent Owen from contracting them as your daughter was infectious prior to the visible outbreak. She is still contagious until the blisters have dried up - I'd keep them apart if you are really concerned.

All the best,

Darla

The discomfort should not last for longer than 4-5 days, but they arenot 'allowed' in public until about 9-10 days later, until the scabshave dried and start to fall offNatasa

ADVICE PLEASE!!

My NT daughter has just emerged from her teenage bed COVERED WITH SPOTS!

It's chicken pox for sure.

NEITHER OF MY KIDS HAVE HAD CHICKEN POX BEFORE. I bet Owen will go down

with it too....

What should I be doing? What should I give? HELP! I need your advice.

Conference is only 2 weeks away! Can't be having chicken pox

Aghhh

3/4 of my son's preschool have just had it, also best friend's nt kid

and his nursery, there is an outbreak around. Basically the second and

third night are the worst in terms of itchiness, them waking up

throughout the night with discomfort. Second night is usually hellish.

applying the cream helps with itching (forgot the name, c... something,

any pharmacist will know). sudocrem also helps a bit.

there should be no other problems really, it is just that they get moany

for a few days. also, not sure if it is liked but my son, as well as

friend's son, both had two days of fever and no apetite 8-9 days AFTER

the outbreak, in our case it was accompanied by liquid bms.

The discomfort should not last for longer than 4-5 days, but they are

not 'allowed' in public until about 9-10 days later, until the scabs

have dried and start to fall off

Sharon,

If it were my kids I'd be giving them extra CLO for the vitamin A.

Like measles, the chicken pox depletes A and if you have lots of A

you should have a more mild version of the pox.

Hi Sharon

Both our boys had chicken pox when they were 4 yrs and 2yrs old.

was only 2 yrs at the time (PRE diet and Biomed) and I gave

Piriton which worked wonders. It helps stop itching and aids sleep.

Two big pluses here. Not sure obviously if this would be 'allowed' in

terms of ingredients for your son but will certainly help your

daughter.

Good luck. Its horrid but hopefully you can tick the box for that one

now.

Yeah, it's not that bad if your child's immunity isn't compromised.

And if your childs immunity is compromized,

Valtrex mightbe the drug of choice...

Dear All,

I want to thank everyone who offered me such helpful advice on how to

treat chickenpox. WHAT A FANTASTIC LIST THIS IS! I followed most of

your suggestions - except we didn't use the piriton. My daughter had

the pox pretty badly but is now feeling much better.

I'm sure all the stuff we did helped, but I wanted to share that the

most immediately effective thing, which was a surprise to me, was

Rhus Tox, a homeopathic remedy suggested by the homeopath who has

been treating my daughter constitutionally for 18 months, mainly

because she has psoriasis on her face - horrible when your 14! After

3 doses of Rhus Tox (on the hour for three hours) HER CHICKEN POX

ITCHING COMPLETELY STOPPED.

What's more, her psoriasis has vanished....we are amazed

Thanks again for all your support

Sharon
