,

We are using Cimetidine ( it's the same as Zantac) for our daughter, she

gets two doses a day, and for 6 months it was great no fevers what so ever.

She just had an episode. You just have to check liver enzyme levels every

3-4 months but for us, she has not had any side effects.

Hope that helps.

Subject: Any advice on possible med treatments for

I am going to my daughter's ID doctor on Monday with a

list of questions and was wondering what treatments

anyone has heard of or tried for . My daughter

is on Prednisolone already but it doesn't seem to be

helping much. I think I saw something about Zantac

and Singulair on previous emails but didn't know the

whole context. I am going to ask about Cimetidine,

but was wondering for those of you with experience

with it is it used by itself or with steroids? and are

there any known side effects with it? Thanks for any

help you can give me. We are unsure what to do at

this point. We are going on two weeks of ongoing

fevers so we are looking for any relief we can find.

Thank you,

Madison 10months

Azzie,

What is the dosage of the Cimetidine they had your

daughter on? My daughter has been on Zantac before

the fevers started for reflux but it is a very low

dose and we have been gradually weening her off of it

because she doesn't need it for reflux anymore. But

maybe a larger dose would help . Thanks for you

help.

Hi ,

My daughter is on 800 milligrams twice a day. However, my daughter is 9

years old! The formula is as follows: . This is a direct quote from Fran

" Doses of 20 to 40 milligrams per 2.2 pounds of body weight have been used

in

children depending on age. Children are those included from infancy to 18.

Therefore the younger children will max at 20mg per kg and teens may go as

high as 40.

This will be determined by a physician.

The max dose is calculated by multiplying weight and the selected dose...

and then the dose is split in half and given to the child BID... *twice a

day. "

My ID doctor and pediatrician didn't even have this formula, so thanks to

Fran, this is what has saved my daughter! I hope this helps.
