Pediapred(prednisolone) & Cimetidine

I am confused about how the pediapred and cimetidine work.I would

like some imput from anyone who has used either of these meds. My

daughter is 1 1/2 she is being treated as possible Pfapa untill

genetic testing is done. She fevers every 25 days, sore throat, white

ulcers, fevers run anywhere from 102-105. So far she has no other

symptoms, no GI issues, her weight gain and growth since birth have

been normal and in between the fever episodes she is completely

healthy. She has been fevering for the past 9 mths like clockwork.

Last month I gave her the pediapred for the first time and I gave it

to her 2x a day for 3 days, now this is where I am confused: Do I

only need to give one dose when I notive the fever starting or do I

give it to her everyday during an episoded (3-4 days is her cycle)?

I've read that some only give one dose, I did that this past episode,

I only gave her the med on the first day. She did not run a fever

after that but she was still uncomfortable and wouldn't eat much so I

know her throat was still bothering her. Is the Pred supposed to

eliminate all the symptoms or just fevers? Does giving it eventually

eliminate the fevers all together or just knock them out when the

medicine is administered?

Now, for the Cimetidine... my doc wants to start her on it 3 times a

day and see if she responds to the treatment. I have read that when

it works it is wonderful I am just so worried about putting my little

girl on such a heavy dose of medicine for such a long period of

time.I am so torn. I don't know if I should just give her the

pediapred and treat each fever and only give it if the fever is very

high and unmanageable with tylenol or motrin or should I start the

cimetidine and she if she responds. Any advice or input is really

welcomed
