Bromelain is a proteo-lytic ( " protein dissolving " ) enzyme derived from the

pineapple. Taken on an empty stomach, it acts as an anti-inflammatory; on a

full stomach, it will help to digest the protein. Other common proteolytic

enzymes are found in papaya (papaine) and apples (pectin).
