halitosis/iodine helps?

Hi, A friend (59, male) started on the iodine protocol at my request; he's on

112.5 mg's with very few detox symptoms, although blotched red on his temples at

one point.

My question: He is trying to get rid of extremely bad breath (acidic smelling).

Will raising iodine amounts help this? He was drinking Lugols/water as a way to

help, and has upped oral hygiene habits with no results.

Will iodine help reverse bad breath?

:

I had always THOUGHT that bad breath was the result of BAD BACTERIA in the stomach which Lugol's should help. Other than that I'm not much help.

Pathogenic bacteria, leaky gut (Arthritis and immune system problems & Asthma etc), small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), sometime it can come from the Lungs too. But IN THE END, this all comes down to BACTERIA.

And Iodine will KILL IT ALL.

Hi len,

No, iodine does not kill the good bacteria. Remember, iodine is a natural material needed by every part of our body. Number 5 in our Commonly Asked Questions, addresses this subject. Please read the New Member doc., then Commonly Asked Questions.

Kind regards,

Tonsil stones can also be the cause. Remedy is to use water pik irrigator at

lowest setting and irrigate tonsils and throat.

Thank you all for your responses. Will Lugol's work better than Iodoral for

killing lower intestinal/stomach/pathogenic bacteria?

He recently moved to Iodoral to stop staining his teeth. (He could use a straw

too if Lugol's is better.) I take Iodoral (125mg)and have healed life-long

elimination issues, so I wonder if the coating on it helps deliver it to the

lower areas? Yes? No? Makes no diff?

Thanks again,

Lugol's is good for the stomach directly, so yes, taking at least part of one's

iodine

in that form may be helpful, particularly for folks with stomach problems. The

iodine will also get to the stomach through systemic means, but, since the

stomach

can absorb and use iodine directly, it's something to consider.

Yes, the coating on Iodoral makes it so that the iodine is released deep in the

gut.

But, the iodine will get to the lower gut through systemic means as well. If

you are

having success, don't mess with success. Humans are a lot more different and

individual biochemically than was once thought. We don't all respond to the

same

things in the same way. Some of us need more of certain nutrients than other

people do. etc. Follow your intuition and what feels right and good.
