Keloids and Iodine

Hello, I have read a couple of times how Iodine will help Keloids. I am sorry to be so dense. Is just taking the Iodine internally what helps the keloids or are you to paint the iodine on the keloids? I have some really large ones from a scar from tumor removal. Two other friends also have the keloids from cancer tumor removals. Makes a person go HHHHHHHHHUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM???Thanks Chris
