Kelli

Not everybody gets a puffy face. I was one of the

lucky ones. I did gain weight but as the pred was

lowered and I began to run the pounds began to come

off. I still have a way to go but things look good.

I started a running program with my daughter. It was

a hard go at first but now I enjoy it. after 51 years

of a lazy life I was the most surprised of all that I

stuck with it. I am glad that you are feeling good

these days. When you start your daycare don't worry

too much about the immune thing. I teach grade one

children and with the exception of one cold I have not

been ill at all since I was diagnosed in December of

2003. I am taking 5 mg of pred now and 125mg of

imuran. By the way I too am a Canadian from Toronto.

Take care!

Hi Kelli and

its nice to see where people are from - actually I live in

Cambridge not too far from you. As for the puffy face, mine did puff

up at 40mg but by the time I got down to 20 it was gone. I think at

first we do worry about catching germs until we settle down. Keeping

away from anyone who is sick and washing hands all the time has kept

me healthier - this is the first winter where I did not end up with a

bad cold/flu.

was that after steroids? that is a common side effect of pred.

His face got puffy. More so than the swollen lymph glands in his

neck. His family doc thought at first he had an eye infection, one

eye was so puffy. Over the course of the 2-day cycle, his whole

face seemed puffy.

has blue/dark circles under his

eyes all the time. His skin is also very pale and appears to have a

circulation problem. I notice a lacey blue undertone beneath his

pale skin on his entire body. Does anyone else notice this on their

child?

When has fever episodes his cheeks turn bright, cherry-red too.

It's usually my first clue that an episode is starting again.

I don't notice the blue undertone necessarily - but Dani is vey pale and seems

slightly puffy (bloated like) and ghostly pale during an episode. She's quite

pale the rest of the time - but so am I!
